Today Tigran Petrosian would have turned 97
On June 17, the 9th World Chess Champion, Tigran Petrosian, would have turned 97.
Below is an English translation of the words of Honored Journalist of the Republic of Armenia, Rudik Barseghyan:
"As someone who knew one of the brightest representatives of world chess well, and as an expression of my enduring admiration for Petrosian’s chess, I would like to present my short author’s documentary dedicated to the 9th World Champion, which, in my deep conviction, is a living tribute to Tigran Petrosian."
Tigran Petrosian passed away at the age of 55 on August 13, 1984, from stomach cancer. He was laid to rest at the Armenian Cemetery in Moscow.
