Armenia is once again becoming a chess epicenter

From September 28 to October 3, 2026, Tsaghkadzor will host the European stage of the FIDE ISCF World Schools Team Championship 2026.

The tournament is organized through the joint efforts of the FIDE - International Chess Federation, the International School Chess Federation (ISCF), the Chess Federation of Armenia, and the European Chess Union (ECU), with the support of the main partner Freedom Holding Corp.

Notably, the championship is being held within the framework of the "Chess in Education" 2026 initiative, highlighting the important role of chess in developing children’s critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, and creative skills.

The European stage is more than just a regional tournament: the top-performing teams will earn qualification for the WSTC 2026 Grand Final, where the strongest school teams from different continents will compete for the title of world champions.

The tournament will bring European school teams, coaches, delegations, and members of the chess community to Armenia, transforming Tsaghkadzor into one of the key centers of international chess life.
