Shant Sargsyan leads the World Rapid Chess Championship

The first game day of the World Rapid Chess Championship has ended.

After 5 rounds, GM Shant Sargsyan has 4.5 points and shares the first place with GM Volodar Murzin, GM Leinier Dominguez and GM Daniel Naroditsky.

In the 3rd and 4th rounds, Shant defeated GM Vasily Ivanchuk and GM Anish Giri, respectively.

GM Tigran Petrosian and GM Karen Grigoryan have 3.5 points, GM Zaven Andriasian and GM Haik Martirosyan have 3 points, GM Emin Ohanyan has 2.5 points, GM Aram Hakobyan and GM Robert Hovhannisyan have 2 points.

In the Women's Championship, GM Elina Danielian and IM Anna Sargsyan have 2 points out of 4, and WIM Mariam Mkrtchyan has 1.5 points.
