The 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss, which was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, has concluded.
The Open section featured 116 top chess players from 33 countries.
GM Anish Giri (Netherlands) and GM Matthias Bluebaum (Germany) took first and second place with 8 and 7.5 points respectively, claiming their spots in the 2026 Candidates Tournament.
Here are the results of the Armenian chess players after 11 rounds:
GM Shant Sargsyan — 6.5 points
GM Aram Hakobyan — 6 points
GM Robert Hovhannisyan — 5.5 points
GM Gabriel Sargissian — 5 points
GM Haik Martirosyan — 5 points
GM Shant Sargsyan secured a prize-winning 20th place and improved his rating by 14,1 points.
GM Aram Hakobyan secured a prize-winning 30th place and improved his rating by 13,3 points.
The Women section featured 56 top chess players from 26 countries.
GM Vaishali Rameshbabu (India) and GM Kateryna Lagno (FIDE) took first and second place with 8 points, claiming their spots in the 2026 Women's Candidates Tournament.
Armenian GM Elina Danielian scored 6 points and secured a prize-winning 18th place.
IM Lilit Mkrtchian scored 4.5 points.
