Gabriel Sargissian, Levon Aronian and Samuel Sevian have reached the 1/8-finals
Out of the 16 players who qualified for the 1/8-finals at the 2025 FIDE World Chess Cup, three are Armenian grandmasters: Gabriel Sargissian, Levon Aronian and Samuel Sevian.
Representing Armenia, GM Gabriel Sargissian (rating: 2624) will face Uzbek GM Nodirbek Yakubboev (rating: 2689) in this round.
Representing the USA, GM Levon Aronian (rating: 2722) will play against Indian GM Arjun Erigaisi (rating: 2773).
Representing the USA, GM Samuel Sevian (rating: 2698) will compete against Chinese GM Wei Yi (rating: 2754).
The top three finishers of the tournament will qualify for the 2026 Candidates Tournament.
The first game of the 1/8-finals will start on November 14 at 13:30 Armenian time.
