In Memory of Gagik Sargsyan

With sorrow and gratitude, we remember Gagik Sargsyan, Honored Coach of Armenia, who, through more than 50 years of dedicated work, made a significant contribution to the development of Armenian chess, spreading a love for the game and nurturing generations of future grandmasters.

Many renowned chess players began their chess journey with Gagik Sargsyan, including GM Ashot Anastasian, GM Arsen Yegiazarian, GM Tigran Petrosian, GM Davit Petrosian, GM Avetik Grigoryan, WGM Tatev Abrahamyan and others.

He participated three times in the Armenian Highest League Chess Championships in 1973, 1974, and 1976. In 1973, he became the Vice-Champion of Armenia. Gagik Sargsyan was also a Republican-level arbiter.

Gagik Sargsyan will be remembered as a devoted professional, a dignified educator, and a beloved coach. His legacy in Armenian chess is lasting, and his memory shines brightly in our hearts.
