The international chess tournament "Aeroflot Open 2026" has started

From February 28 to March 5, the international chess tournament "Aeroflot Open 2026" is taking place in Moscow, Russia.

The Aeroflot Open has been held since 2002. In 2004, it was included in the Guinness World Records as the largest chess tournament in the world.

There are 11 Armenian participants in the tournament:

IM Vahe Sukiasyan
FM Mikayel Manvelyan
IM Stefan Pogosyan
FM Edgar Hayrapetyan
IM Vahe Danielyan

FM Manvel Arakelyan

As part of the event, a round-robin tournament is also being held, featuring five renowned senior chess players. Armenian GM Rafael Vaganian is also participating in the tournament.
