FIDE Candidates Tournament

From March 29 to April 15, the 2026 Candidates Tournament is taking place in Pegeia, Cyprus.

The winner of the Open tournament will earn the right to challenge reigning World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju for the title, while the winner of the Women's tournament will face the current Women's World Champion Ju Wenjun.

After Round 2, the standings in the Open tournament are as follows:

Fabiano Caruana – 1.5 points
R Praggnanandhaa – 1.5 points
Wei Yi – 1 point
Matthias Bluebaum – 1 point
Anish Giri – 0.5 point

The standings in the Women's tournament are:
