Armenian chess players achieve great results in Sweden

From October 26 to 31, 2026, a series of round robin chess tournaments "Hotel Stockholm North by First Hotels Young Talent" took place in Sweden.

GM Gevorg Harutjunyan, FM Sargis Manukyan, and CM Hamlet Antonyan all achieved successful results in the tournaments.

GM Gevorg Harutjunyan scored 5.5 points out of 9 in the "GM2610-3110 - I" tournament, finished in 2nd place, and improved his rating by 17 points.

FM Sargis Manukyan fulfilled his third and final IM norm in the "GM2610-3110 - II" tournament. He scored 6 points out of 9, finished in 3rd place, and improved his rating by 37 points, crossing the 2400 rating threshold required for the IM title.

CM Hamlet Antonyan (coach: GM Gevorg Harutjunyan) scored 6 points out of 9 in the "IM2610-3110" tournament, finished in 3rd place, and improved his rating by 50 points, crossing the 2300 rating threshold required for the FM title.
