World Championship Match

The World Championship Match 2024 will take place in Singapore from November 25 to December 13.

The championship will be held between the current world champion, 32-year-old Ding Liren from China, and the winner of the Candidates Chess Tournament, 18-year-old Gukesh Dommaraju from India.

The player who scores 7.5 points or more wins the World Championship Match.

In case of a tie, the Champion would be determined in a rapid chess playoff.

All the games start at 17:00 local time, and there is a rest day after every three rounds.

The first game is set to start on November 25.

The players cannot draw a game by agreement before black’s 40th move. A claim for a draw before black’s 40th move is permitted only in cases of a draw by threefold repetition or a stalemate. 

The prize fund is 2.500.000 USD.
