Boris Spassky has passed away

The 10th World Chess Champion Boris Spassky has passed away at the age of 88.

In 1966, Spassky played his first match for the world chess championship against Petrosian. The ninth world champion defended his title and won the match by a score of 12.5:11.5. 

In 1969, Spassky won the right to a second match against Petrosian. This time Spassky won with a score of 12.5:10.5 and became the 10th world chess champion.

Spassky was the world champion for three years: in 1972, he lost the match to Robert Fischer.
